William Franklin Martin, father of Sarah, born in Ray County, Missouri, w as a Civil War Captain with the North (Union) Army. He deserted at the Ba ttle of Lexington, Missouri, in 1861 and returned to private life of farmi ng in Ray County.
William and Elvira Martin were buried in the Lavelock Cemetery, north of H ardin, Missouri, near a south fence. The fence was removed and the grav es lost.
