Upon returning to Malta, Ohio in 1916 he wa a ssociated with his brother-in-law, George T. Hoffman in the Hoffman Tanni ng Company Circa 1925 he and his brother-in-law, George T. Hoffman establi shed the business called The Ace Hi Service Station. Upon the death of M r. Hoffman, Mr Barkhurst continued on with the business.
