Below Letter sent to D.Betts 9/98 from Mary Edith (Betts) Jolliff. In th is letter it is from Henry Betz to his son Emmannuel Beam Betz sent Apr il 15, 1847.

Jenner Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania
Dear Son (Emannuel) I will once more embrace the present opportuni ty of sending a few lines to you to let you know that we are all in a reas onable state of health at present time an we have received your letter dat ed on the 18th March and also one last summer and I let you know that we h at no letter from Jacob; further I let you know that dear Martha ( ?) - - - a great deal of sickness and - - - - - in this county this wint er and at present; Deaths old Jacob Boyers and wife, Michael BOyers o ld David Simpson and wife and most of Abram Beams family - - -- - had t he fever and are welll again - Mary Beam got married to Benjamin Klin e, Louis Beam married to Mary Benford of Somerset and Grand Mother Beam w ent to Ohio last spring.
and hyour Sister Christina got married last August to Jacob M. Hanger (Bla cksmith) and then left this place on the 29th of March to go to Michig an to live thare, Christian and Michael Sipe both are married, Christi an to Mary Bisel of Ephream Bisel, and Michael to Magdalana Biasaker
and I wish you would inform Jacob Betz about these few words that I wro te to you and we look for both you and Jacob to give us a visit next fa ll if you can make it, - - - - we have had a good Harvest last year and go od corn and plenty of Apples and acorns and so no more at present but rema ins your affectionate parents
